For over 25 years, Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program has strived to provide or assure access to the highest quality health care for all homeless men, women, and children in the greater Boston area.
BHCHP provides primary, dental, and behavioral health care to over 12,000 patients each year at over 70 different site, greatly reducing emergency room visits by homeless patients. Its medical respite center, Barbara McInnis House, provides care to people who are too sick to stay in shelters or on the streets, but not sick enough to stay in a hospital.
BHCHP also offers a suboxone clinic, a transgender clinic, HIV care, improved access to pharmaceuticals through its outpatient pharmacy, and outreach services to homeless families and men and women who will not or cannot come in for care.
Through its comprehensive specialized services, BHCHP provides vulnerable patients with high-quality and dignified care. Additionally, by managing and staffing shelter clinics across the city, it allows shelters to focus on their missions.
