STRIDE Community Health Center

STRIDE Community Health Center, formerly Metro Community Provider Network (MCPN)’s story began in 1989, when a single house was sold to the organization for $1 by the City of Aurora.

STRIDE converted this tiny home to its very first healthcare clinic. In 2003, STRIDE established its first dental clinic and today, STRIDE operates 18 health centers with more than 50,000 patients! The top five services provided at STRIDE are well child care and adult preventive care, cardiovascular care, diabetes care, obesity care, and dental care.  STRIDE's mission is to partner with the community to provide excellent, culturally-sensitive health services to meet the needs of each individual.  Nearly 3 out of 4 STRIDE patients are at or below 100% of poverty level and 14% reported being homeless or at risk of homelessness in the last year. In 2018, STRIDE provided more than $15 million worth of charity care.  STRIDE believes that everyone has an equal right to quality healthcare and hopes to see each individual empowered to live the lives they want through personalized, compassionate healthcare.

In 2019, the organizaiton changed its name to STRIDE Community Health Center.

“We chose the name STRIDE because we believe in establishing a deep connection with our patients as equal partners, and to journey with them toward better health,” said Ben Wiederholt, President and Chief Executive Officer of STRIDE Community Health Center. “We believe that the dignity of every human being means that everyone has an equal right to quality healthcare, and that our new name better reflects our organizational mission.”

Over the past three decades, STRIDE Community Health Center has built strong relationships with many healthcare professionals, individuals, and partner organizations. Now, with more than 50,000 patients and 18 locations, it is one of the largest, most expansive Community Health Centers in Colorado. Patients span five counties, 115 ZIP codes, and speak more than 100 different languages. STRIDE serves families, children, pregnant women, immigrants and refugees, individuals who identify as LGBTQ+, those who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, people with HIV/AIDS, and people with chronic health conditions such as asthma, diabetes and obesity. Visit www.stridechc.org/ for more information.
